Uttarakhand’s Corbett Tiger Reserve to open a new tourism zone

Trivendra Singh Rawat, chief minister of Uttarakhand announced the origination of a new tourism zone, which will be called the Garjya Tourism Zone located in Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see more of its wildlife, beauty, and landscape.

After the inauguration of Kumaoni Canteen and a souvenir shop in Dhangadi Corbett Tiger Reserve, Trivendra Singh Rawat made this announcement. Earlier, seven zones were there but after the announcement, Corbett Tiger Reserve will have eight tourist zones. Most probably, the eighth zone will be functional from November, and thirty cars in the morning and thirty in the evening will be permitted to go inside the new zone. The revenue collected will go into the pockets of Rampur, Leti, and Chopda villages.

Chief Minister said that Corbett Tiger Reserve is the identity of Uttarakhand. It is prominent for its beauty, landscape, wildlife, tigers, greenery, and biodiversity. The eighth zone declared will increase more awareness and knowledge about the biodiversity and history of the Corbett Tiger Reserve.

The Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve said that after he sent the proposal of development of a new tourist zone, the proposal was initially approved by the chief wildlife warden. The eighth tourist zone has been developed by clearing and amalgamation of the land of the Sarpduli range, Bijrani Range, Garjiya beat, Aamdanda beat, Ringora Chaur, Bijrani range. The new zone will help in reducing the population of tourists in the other seven zones. It will help in increasing the revenue from the park.

The other zones apart from the new zone include Bijrani, Dhikala, Dhela Durga Devi, Jhirna, Pakhro, and Sonanadhi zones. But because of the increase in the population of tourists, the pressure on these zones increased. Thus feeling the need to create a new zone which is called Garjya Tourism Zone.

62 development works worth Rs 119 crore has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand recently. He also inaugurated BPPI (Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India) Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
